Nuisance fowl cause extreme property damage each year to businesses when there is no goose deterrent or other type of bird control methods in place. Millions are spent on the cleanup and repair on private and public property that could have been prevented. When effective goose deterrents and other goose control products are in place, parks, pools, fountains and golf courses will stop from becoming contaminated by the nasty droppings that the geese and other pest birds leave behind in their wake. Geese are one of the most notorious nuisance fowl that causes problems and contaminates public areas. Sparrows, crows and grackles are some of the pest birds that will leave behind their droppings and cause damage to property. Droppings of all kinds are a potential risk to humans. There are transmittable diseases that cross between the droppings to humans causing serious illnesses.

It is recommended to tackle the bird situation before it becomes a problem. There are chemical, non-lethal and non-toxic bird and goose repellents that can be used in trees and on ledges, bushes, shrubs, grass and buildings. The liquid bird repellent is applied by a hand or pressure spray gun. It is very easily applied and usually lasts up to six months outside. The repellent will not wash off with watering or rain. A good goose repellent is registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Poisons and other lethal methods of getting rid of the pest bird should never be an option, as it creates an additional risk to humans and domestic animals. Many pest bird species are protected by local laws and cannot be harmed. There are safe and humane bird deterrent options that can be used to control pest birds.

When protecting parks, cemeteries, yards, shorelines or any type of landscaping from the fowl, Goose repellents are highly effective and affordable. The non-toxic liquid goose repellent makes the grass disagreeable for the geese and forces them to move on to a new area and find a new resource for food and water. The liquid repellent is made from grape extract, Methyl Anthranilate, which irritates birds trigeminal nerve and mucous membranes through the entry of the eyes, nose and mouth. They do not like the sensation of the goose repellent product.

Use of a sound goose deterrent or sonic unit designed specifically for pest birds and geese is another means of protecting a large area of land or crops. A sound deterrent is ideal for deterring geese from large open spaces. Sonic sound units can cover up to 3 acres. The sonic units are easily programmed to broadcast goose distress calls at various intervals. When the geese hear the distress calls of their own species, their natural instincts kick in and they flee the area. The sound deterrent is weather resistant and can be programmed to automatically shut off at night if needed.

To accomplish the need to get rid of the pest birds and the formation of their droppings on the property, using a combination of bird control methods is a good idea. There is no need to be in contact with the birds and to be at risk of disease from their droppings.
