Invest in Bird Control

One of the biggest concerns for building maintenance and property management companies is how to keep birds away from the structures. Millions of dollars is spent each year cleaning up after the nasty pigeons, sea gulls, crows, and all the other pest birds. The costs of repairing the damage can be catastrophic when no bird control strategies are in place. It is important to not forget about the problem, and implement bird control products before the birds create any type of structural or health issue.

The droppings are very unsightly and never a good display for any business. Not only are they unsightly and dirty, but they are hazardous as well. The droppings can spread over 60 transmittable diseases to humans. The investment of bird control to stop the health hazards and the cost of potential liability risks do not compare. Slip and fall accidents and lawsuits could be very expensive and damaging to the bank account and also the companys reputation. It is hard to get rid of a bad public image once the picture has been painted.

Pigeons alone cause thousands of dollars worth of damage each and every year to buildings, machinery, equipment and industrial facilities. Companies and government agencies spend thousands of dollars needlessly on the clean-up of bird feces and the repairs needed from the birds caustic and corrosive accumulated droppings. Instead they need to invest in bird control solutions. The bird control solutions will cost very minimal compared to the outcome when there is no bird control investment.

Bird Control Solutions

One bird control solution that will get rid of birds and is especially effective on buildings and signs is bird spikes. The term bird spikes refers to a variety of different kinds of bird spikes. All the different types ultimately share the same outcome which is effectively and humanely deterring the large pest birds, such as the pigeon, from landing in an unwanted area by creating an uneven surface created by spikes that the birds will not land on.

Plastic bird spikes are one option. Plastic bird spikes are made from a U.V. protected polycarbonate plastic. The spikes come in two foot sections. There are three different widths to match the surface being treated, 3, 5 and 7. They come in six different colors to blend into the surroundings; white, tan, brick red, brown, bland and gray. When installed correctly they will be virtually invisible. The plastic spikes are non-conductive meaning they will not interfere with electrical or communication and transmission. To install they can be simply glued down. The spikes have a special glue trough design on the base for fast and easy application. Plastic bird spikes are the lowest cost bird spike.

The other choices in spikes include stainless steel, gutter bird spikes, girder spikes and mega bird spikes. Girder spikes, for instance, are the physical bird deterrent you would use on girders and I-beams. Each type of spikes has its unique use and could solve a deluge of bird problems.

All spikes are safe and humane for the bird and the person who ends up installing them. There are many companies that specialize in bird exclusion installations should your maintenance crew need a hand. Once the spikes are installed, there is no need to worry about the public image of nasty bird droppings, or that the structure is being eaten away by the droppings. It is one of the best investments a company can make.
