City of Anaheim Protects Guests from Pest Birds!

The city of Anaheim has installed bird deterrent spikes on the light posts, traffic signals and street signs around the Disney Resort area of town. The bird spikes keep pest birds such as pigeons and seagulls from landing on the poles and releasing their “loads” on unsuspecting guests of the resort area. They are virtually invisible and do not take away from the classic resort atmosphere the city of Anaheim has created.

Virtually Invisible!

The bird spikes were installed by Bird-B-Gone Authorized Installer Doug Snowden of Wings & Stings. Snowden says, “We were contacted by the city of Anaheim to rid the area of pest pigeons. They had had several complaints by resort area patrons using the crosswalks that there was too much mess. Over 7,000 feet of Bird-B-Gone’s Stainless Steel Bird Spikes were installed in the resort area.” Wings & Stings worked from 9 in the evening until 5 in the morning installing the spikes. The biggest challenge according to Snowden was the traffic control, “the spike installation itself was a cinch, we used adhesive and tie downs to apply the spikes to the required areas”, says Snowden.

The bird spikes are manufactured in the city of Orange by a local company Bird-B-Gone, Inc. Bird-B-Gone is the largest manufacturer and distributer of Pest Bird Control products in the United States, with over 100 products available. All of Bird-B-Gone’s products are Humane and do not harm birds. The company’s owner, Bruce Donoho says “ the bird spikes are the most economical method of permanently deterring pest birds such as pigeons, crows, seagulls and larger birds. They are easy to install, no maintenance and are practically unnoticeable by the general public.”

Donoho goes on to say, “The mess left behind by these pest birds is not only unsightly, but pose health and safety hazards as well. Patrons can slip on bird feces on the sidewalks; accumulation of the feces can also carry diseases that will make people sick.”
