If the business is a form of government, such as court buildings, then financial issues related to that building are extremely important. There are many people scrutinizing how people spend money, especially how the government spends money. It would make sense to be proactive and for the maintenance crews to be very diligent in their duties. Repair and maintenance for pest birds can be very expensive and not just for government buildings but for every building. It can be very inexpensive and very cost effective to keep birds off buildings, signs, rooftop AC units and out of rain gutters. The higher the building, the more the birds love the location.

The Bird Spike Option

Preventative measures in place will keep the pest bird issues from costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Bird control strategies are not only cost effective but they are both safe and humane for the birds. One of the best bird deterrents to implement and one of the best products on the market right now are bird spikes.

There are two types of bird spikes to use for commercial and industrial businesses. Stainless steel and plastic bird spikes both offer an effective means of getting rid of birds from the building. Bird spikes block the birds from landing on a surface which encourages them to more to a more comfortable location. Bird spikes work for larger pest birds such as pigeons, crows and gulls. Both stainless steel and plastic bird spikes are safe and humane. They have been approved by several societies and groups including the Pigeon Control Advisory Service and the U.S. Human Society.

The bird spikes are made in the USA. They are embedded into a U.V. protected polycarbonate base. The base is flexible and can easily bend on curved surfaces. They are patented with the bend-and-crush design that means that each spike remains tightly affixed to its base. Even in different weather conditions, the spikes will stay on the building where they started and will not be on the ground.

Stainless steel bird spikes come in different spike widths, 3", 5" and 8". They are also the number one specified pigeon spike by architects, contractors and government agencies. They can be glued, screwed or tied down for easy installation. Plastic bird spikes also come in three width sizes, 3", 5" and 7". The plastic bird spikes come in a few colors to help match the structure they are being applied to. Plastic bird spikes are the lowest cost bird spike.

Both types of bird spikes are very easily installed and the building maintenance personnel can easily nail, screw or glue the strips of spikes down in a day. The edges of the spikes are blunted so the installer is in no danger of being injured. The pest bird is also in no danger should it get close to the spikes.
