How to Keep Birds Off Porch

Bird Control for Porches

Keeping birds off of your porch can seem like a daunting task, as there seems to be an endless number of places birds can nest or perch on. The amount of bird poop and nesting debris can quickly build up as you fight to keep your front porch clean.

Are the Birds Nesting or Perching?

Our experts have categorized bird deterrent products based on the bird activity; Are the birds nesting OR are they simply perching on a ledge? Assessing the bird activity will drastically change the product used, in many cases more than one product is recommended. Understanding the difference between nesting and non-nesting birds will allow you to effectively keep birds away from your home.

Note: It is important to clean away nesting materials and droppings thoroughly before installation of products.

How to Keep Birds from Nesting on your Porch

If you have nesting birds on your porch, the first thing you will want to do is properly identify the bird species. If the bird is a protected species, we recommend waiting until the bird and the hatchlings have fully vacated the nest prior to installing bird deterrent products.

The most effective solution for nesting birds are exclusionary products such as Bird Netting. Small birds will find areas on the porch such as in the ceiling, on columns and on light fixtures. Installing bird netting overhead, directly under the problematic areas, will provide a highly effective barrier that is hardly noticeable to the naked eye.
