How Birds Affect the Industry

Birds like high perches. This gives them a good vantage point for predators and food sources. Birds will often sit along the roofline, ledge or parapet walls of a building. Birds also roost and nest near rooftop HVAC units as they provide warmth and usually water.

Bird droppings not only look unsightly but also carry disease and can corrode and stain building materials. Roofers may encounter bird droppings or nesting sites when they go to service a roof, or be asked by their clients to take care of a bird problem since they are already up there.
