Is your backyard ready for summer? Or is it ready for the birds? With summer time here, outdoors is the place where family gatherings and parties are happening. Dinners are eaten out on the patio on the nice warm evenings. Gardens are being tended to, and pool parties are being planned. To keep birds away, use netting for gardens and bird spikes for the rooftop and other bird control products that will scare birds away.

There is no need to be the one to physically shoo them away with a broom in your hand or by waving the barbecue utensils at them. It may work when you do this, but it will not last for long. Once you go back inside, the birds will be hovering about looking for the leftovers.

The solution is to install bird control products that work whether you are home or not. Bird spikes are a bird control product that will be a great first defense against the pest birds from roosting on your roof ledge. Bird spikes are one of the most widely used bird control products.

The spikes can be either stainless steel or a very rigid U.V. protected polycarbonate. The plastic birds control spikes (polycarbonate) come in 3", 5" and 7" widths with 2-foot long sections. The plastic bird spikes are a great choice for home use as they come in colors that will match the home structures. The colors include white, tan, brick red, brown, black and gray. This color feature along with the spikes being installed correctly adds to the invisibility factor. They are also very easily installed. They can be glued, screwed or tied down. The spikes can be applied to any flat or curved surface making them very versatile. They work well when applied to windowsills, beams and under eaves. Birds will often roost on the edge of the roofs and patios, which is why the spikes are ideal for these areas. The spikes create an uneven edge and make it impossible for the birds to get comfortable. By eliminating their roosting on the rooftops, your whole yard is practically protected. You are getting rid of their birds eye view into your yard. They will move on to a better spot.

Netting for gardens is a must if you want to protect your precious plants and trees. Bird control netting for gardens will make it impossible for the birds to get to the plants by creating a barrier between the birds and plants. The netting for gardens is best when it is suspended over the entire garden area. The netting can be attached to posts that are added around the perimeter of the garden plot.

Bird control netting for gardens can be put up without any prior preparation. But before the bird spikes are installed, make sure the surface is thoroughly cleaned. Remove any loose or peeling paint or bird droppings. If the area needs to be cleaned, use a commercial disinfectant to prevent exposure to the airborne diseases that can be transmitted to humans.
