Spring birds are here and time for bird control

There are many signs to look for when spring is in the air, woodpeckers drumming, songbirds singing, owls hooting and lots of bird droppings. There are early signs that the spring birds are coming. The male birds that are the strongest arrive beforehand to check out the territory. The spring migratory birds often return to the same nesting spots as the previous year, looking for their previous nests. The females will arrive next and they will start to pair up with the males. It is important to get the bird control in place before they start mating and there are eggs in the nests. State laws protect most migratory birds once they have nested.

House Sparrows, for example, are called by their name because they can be found just about anywhere a house is found. They nest in holes of buildings and in the eaves. They will also build nests in vines that climb the walls of the building. They prefer to nest in manmade structures. They are noisy and social pest birds.

Like the House Sparrow, other migratory pest birds will also want to find places around the home to nest. The reason you will want to stop this behavior on your property is because of the consequences of having the nesting birds hanging around too long. The accumulated droppings are damaging no matter what surface they fall on. They are extremely acidic and will permanently stain and ruin canvas, cement, wood, metals and just about any other structure. Millions of dollars are spent each year cleaning up after the pests. If you implement bird control before they arrive, you will not be included in this statistic.

Another reason to begin banishing the birds from your property is because the roosting and nesting sites can be harmful to your health. There are many diseases that the droppings harbor when they are allowed to accumulate. There are more than 60 transmittable diseases and dangerous parasitic organisms that can be transmitted to humans from bird droppings. A common way of contracting a disease from the droppings is inhalation. Histoplasmosis is a well-documented respiratory disease that can be transmitted by inhaling a dust that has been created by disturbed dried droppings.

There are other diseases that are caused by a fungus such as cryptococcosis. Pigeon droppings are a main source of this particular disease. It is transmitted by inhaling the yeast-like cells of the organism. Accumulated droppings will be the culprit. But also, the droppings that may be in the attic, rooftop ventilation systems and air conditioning units help the spread of the disease.

It is important to maintain a type of bird control around not just the buildings but the ventilation systems on the rooftops and the sides of the home.

There are many safe and humane bird control methods to choose from. There is never a need to harm or destroy the pest birds. And remember that it is illegal to do so when they are nesting. There are methods that will frighten them away using their sense of sight. There are sound deterrents that will send them distress and warning calls in their own bird language. There is also products that will block them from an area and make it impossible for them to land and stop them from nesting.

It is never too early to be ready for the spring pest birds. Pick your methods depending on your bird. There are bird control specialists that can help you pick which method would work best for your particular bird issue.
