Memorial Park Pulling Out All the Stops to Get Rid of Geese

The mayor of Michigan's Harbor Beach Memorial Park admitted they have a goose problem. Seems an overwhelming number of geese have commandeered the parks new waterfront as their home. The large, brazen birds have created a huge nuisance for residents and the parks maintenance workers. Understandable when you consider the facts. Weighing up to 17 pounds and eating four pounds of grass a day, a gooses simple digestive tract processes food at a rapid rate about seven minutes from beak to butt. Result: your adult goose produces about a 1.5 pounds of poop per day. Multiply that by the fact that geese breed almost as fast as they eat, and you've got a real goose problem.

After some research, Harbor Beach park officials gave the green light to using firecrackers to get rid of the geese. One official suggested they hunt down the geese and prepare them for the city's planned chili cook off (he was joking). Needless to say, these goose deterrents proved ineffective. The only sure-fire solution to invading geese is to implement professional level non-lethal goose deterrents (geese are a protected species). Here's what the goose control pros at Bird B Gone recommend:

Migrate Goose Repellent Leaves an Awful Taste in their Mouth

Ideal for the large grassy areas that attract geese, Bird B Gone's Migrate Goose Repellent contains Methyl Anthranilate (MA), which irritates a gooses trigeminal nerves and mucous membranes. This non-toxic grape extract is easily applied using a standard hose sprayer. Rain or sprinklers won't wash Migrate off, and any run-off will not contaminate the environment. A single gallon of Migrate protects over 16,000 sq. ft. of lawn.

Sonic Goose Deterrent Creates Fear they Can Hear

Bird B Gone's Solar Bird Chase Super Sonic is a fear generator for geese. It broadcasts pre-recorded sounds of geese being attacked. A built-in speaker covers an entire acre, and more speakers can be added to extend the range to five acres. The solar powered device can be placed wherever geese gather and feed. It works on cloudy days and battery power kicks in at night. The unit is housed in a weather-resistant, UV-protected case for sustained outdoor use. The device can even be programmed to shut off at night, and the output volume can be adjusted between 65 to 105 decibels.

Canadian Geese Decoys Scare Geese on Sight

These realistic looking Coyote Decoys convince geese that they're being stalked by their dreaded natural enemy. Each decoy is constructed of a weather-resistant UV-resistant durable plastic. Periodically moving these decoys will convince geese that the decoys are a live threat. Each decoy pack comes with two Coyote Decoys, four metal rods, and four brackets for upright installation.

Bird B Gone is the worlds largest manufacturer and distributor of bird control products, providing effective and humane solutions to a bird-free environment. The company provides advice, training and installation services for those who need help with these and other bird control measures.
