The Bird Repellent Geese Would Tell You to Use if They Could Talk

Got geese invading your property? Have they been trampling and pooping all over your landscaping, ponds and walkways? Do the big birds brazenly attack passersby? Pest geese are a common problem many property owners face every year. Without an effective bird repellent, these unwelcome visitors will be back in greater numbers. Just shooing them away won't do the trick. And you don't want to disturb their nests or use lethal means against them. Geese are protected by federal, state and local laws.

If geese could talk, they would tell you which bird repellents they would use. Since they cant, the professional bird control experts at Bird B Gone have done the next best thing: they've consulted ornithologists who understand geese and know what scares or annoys them. Here's what they recommend.

  1. Scarecrow Bird Repellent. Using a motion sensor that activates a harmless blast of water, Bird B Gone's Scarecrow is ideal for keeping geese out of specific areas. The Scarecrow connects to any standard water hose and safeguards an area up to 1,200 square feet. You can easily adjust the Scarecrows sensitivity and coverage pattern, and once they're set up, Scarecrows are efficient, tireless sentries that deter geese day and night for up to 6 months. Each device is capable of delivering thousands of firings on a single 9-volt battery.
  1. Chemical Bird Repellent. Bird B Gone's Migrate Goose Repellent keeps geese from eating lawns and plants by making their food unpalatable. The non-toxic chemical turns even the tastiest grass into inedible goose food. Migrate contains Methyl Anthranilate, a harmless grape extract that irritates a gooses trigeminal nerves and mucous membranes. Simply apply Migrate with a standard sprayer on the grass and plants where geese feed most often. Rain and sprinkler watering won't wash it off.
  1. Sonic Bird Repellent. Broadcasting pre-recorded distress and predator calls that intimidate geese, Bird B Gone's Solar Bird Chase Super Sonic is ideal for large open areas. The threatening birdcalls last for two minutes and are repeated every 10 minutes. A built-in speaker covers an entire acre, and you can add more speakers to cover up to five acres. The solar powered device is rugged and portable and can easily be placed wherever geese try to hide or nest. A volume control lets you control the output intensity, and you can program it to automatically shut off at night.

If geese could talk, they would also advise you to remove any concealing ground cover where they can build their nests. And to plant tall fescue, periwinkle, Myrtle or English Ivy instead of the more common grasses. They would also advise against aerating ponds, to remove any water sources, and to steepen any shorelines, creating a vertical wall about three feet above the waterline.

Bird B Gone is the worlds largest manufacturer and distributor of bird control products, providing effective and humane solutions to a bird-free environment. The company provides advice, training and installation services for those who need help with these and other bird control measures.
