Anti-Bird Netting: What You Need to Know

Posted on February 1, 2023 by Bird B Gone in Bird Control

An ounce of anti bird netting is worth a pound of pigeon poop. Isn’t that the way the old saying goes? We may not have the aphorism quite right, but the underlying sentiment is absolutely true: prevention is much, much easier than cleaning up, especially when it comes to problems with nuisance birds. Two things are inexorably true about birds. First, once birds move in and make themselves comfortable, it can be difficult to get them to leave. And second, the persistent presence of nuisance birds like gulls, pigeons, and sparrows will cause costly damage to businesses, gardens, and property. The damages might be limited to cleaning issues (safely removing bird droppings is never simple) or they could be as serious as slips and falls, disease, costly health code violations, blocked drains, electrical problems, or ruined gardens and lost crops.

Prevention is the key to avoiding these potential bird-related problems. Anti-bird netting from Bird B Gone are a 100% effective, totally humane way to exclude birds from your property and keep them away for good. Bird netting systems establish a secure physical barrier with minimal visual impact. A variety of bird netting products are available to help you protect a variety of objects, structures, and openings in industrial, architectural, aquatic, and agricultural settings.

Anti Bird Net Exclusion and Prevention

Being proactive is the best way to prevent costly repairs and cleanup. While predicting bird behavior is not an exact science, it is possible to anticipate potential problems and plan accordingly. Anti-bird netting is an excellent pre-emptive strike against troublesome bird infestations. If your property includes any of the following features, an anti-bird netting exclusion strategy is a wise investment:

  • Berry bushes
  • Fruit trees
  • Courtyards or balconies, especially where food is consumed
  • Exposed recreation areas
  • Open loading bays
  • Warehouses
  • Unprotected eaves
  • Large, 3-D, mounted signage
  • Car ports

Birds are everywhere and trouble with birds in these areas is inevitable. If you already missed the prevention boat, all hope is not lost; you’ll need to clean up the mess thoroughly first, but you can still install netting to keep things free and clear. But cleanup is crucial. Birds are attracted to their own messes and will keep returning to their favorite spots as long as the messes remain. Our experts are here to help you eliminate the mess safely and thoroughly so you can have a fresh start.

A Pound of Cure

All bird netting is not created equal. Different designs and materials mean you can find a solution that’s just right for your circumstances.

Bird Net 2000™

Bird Net 2000™ is Bird B Gone’s most heavy-duty, professional grade anti-bird netting. This durable polyethylene net is designed to permanently prevent all species of birds from roosting or nesting on protected property; the largest gulls and the smallest sparrows are no match for this net. Bird Net 2000™ is made from durable, 6-stranded, UV-treated, polyethylene twine. It comes in three mesh sizes, 3/4”, 1-1/8”, and 2”, and in three colors, black, white, or stone. We carry several net sizes in stock and are happy to provide custom cuts. You’ll also find professional tools and hardware designed to make installation a breeze and our superior customer service before and after purchase guarantee you’ll get all the help you need. In addition, Bird Net 2000™ comes with a 10-year warranty, the longest in the industry.

Installation of Bird Net 2000™ is semi-permanent and is ideal for commercial, industrial, and residential areas, including the following:

  • Canopies
  • Signs
  • Garages
  • Rooftops
  • Factories
  • Bridges
  • Airplane hangars
  • Loading docks
  • Warehouses
  • Courtyards
  • Eaves
  • And more!

No-Knot Netting

No-Knot Bird Netting is another heavy-duty, flame-resistant, multi-strand, polypropylene netting product that effectively blocks birds from unwanted areas. Compared to Bird Netting 2000, No-Knot Netting is easier to handle and easier to install while providing the same level of protection; DIYers often find No-Knot Netting easier to work with, especially in small areas. This black netting has a ¾” mesh and has minimal visual impact when installed. It uses the same installation hardware as the Bird Netting 2000 and is effective in the same locations. Careful installation is critical, sagging or drooping nets will result in an ineffective system. Stock sizes and custom cuts are available.

Garden Netting

This black, lightweight, plastic mesh net is used to temporarily protect vulnerable areas such as fruit trees, berry bushes, gardens, vineyards, and eaves from pest birds. Garden Netting comes in the following three sizes:

  • 1/4", recommended for tiny birds and Cicada bugs
  • 1/2", recommended for average sized birds
  • 3/4", our most popular size, recommended for larger birds

Once you’ve selected the netting, the mesh size, and the right cut and shape, installing garden netting is easy. Bulk rolls or cut pieces are easy to place anywhere temporary, seasonal protection is needed against pest birds. Once installed, it’s virtually invisible. Best of all, it’s reusable! Just roll it back up and store it away until protection is needed again.

Garden netting is a highly versatile solution.

  • Wrap the netting completely around small plants
  • Suspend the netting above groups of plants using poles around the perimeter
  • Drape the net over trees with ripening fruit
