Massachusetts Bird Control
There are a number of pest birds certain areas of the Bay State can do without. These winged pests include pigeons and gulls.
Residents in Brookline recently had to deal with hundreds of pigeons that have been terrorizing their neighborhood. It was reported that a local resident raised them as pets and released them near Hammond Street.
In Old Irving Park, pedestrians must sidestep to avoid mounds of pigeon droppings on the sidewalks beneath the city’s viaduct at Keeler Avenue. Children walking to school under the Pulaski Road viaduct must tread carefully to avoid the fresh and ossified pigeon droppings. The sloped sidewalk only partially drains leaves, pools of mud and gooey pigeon droppings which create slip-and-fall hazards for passersby. In the summer, when temperatures rise to 90 degrees, the stench is unbearable.
Gulls feeding in parking lots in central Massachusetts frequently make their way to Wachusett or Quabbin Reservoirs, which provide drinking water to more than 2 million people. When they drink or bathe in these reservoirs, they can contaminate the water supply. Gulls can carry, and potentially transmit, many bacteria and pathogens, including Salmonella, E. coli, Campylobacter, Listeria, and fecal coliform.
Stainless Steel Bird Spike won’t allow birds to land. Available in 1-, 3-, 5- and 8-inch splay widths, the spiked strips provide increasingly wider areas of protection. Made in the USA, these spikes come with a 10-year guarantee.
The handheld Agrilaser® uses advanced, patented optical laser-beam technology to harmlessly repel gulls over great distances—up to 2,000 meters.
